Halloween

Happy Halloween!

I celebrated Halloween a little early this year with a Halloween themed house party. I, along with my housemates, decorated the house with every possible decoration you could think of. Cobwebs, spiders, bats and skeletons were just a few of the things we used, not forgetting iconic horror film characters such as the terrifying Scream figure. The result? A child's Halloween playground.

Dresspiration

With graduation less than a month away, it's time to start the fun yet exhausting task of dress shopping. Now, obviously every girl loves shopping for a gorgeous new dress. Will it be a simple yet classic piece or a head to toe in sequins number? The difficult part is making sure it is absolutely perfect for the particular event - this of course being graduation. Here's a little inspiration...

Will you go for classic and beautiful with this gorgeous red lace dress?
(Miss Selfridge, £42)

Or are sparkly sequins a must-have for you?
(Topshop, £65)

Pretty yet understated - the perfect piece to take you from casual daywear to evening glamour with a dash of bright lipstick.
(Miss Selfridge, £47)

For the majority of us, we are still in student recovery mode (the months after finishing university where we are adjusting to not having a student loan), so picking the right piece is vital. But don't be boring - graduation only comes once, unless you are Van Wilder, so I say go for something bright, sparkly and totally show-stopping.

Animals make everything ok

Today felt like the first relaxing day I've had in a long time. After endless months of interning in the week and working at the weekends, I decided an afternoon at the New Forest would be the perfect way to unwind and lose myself in the country air and to-cute-to-resist animals.

It seems a walk in the fresh air really does some good, with the occasional (ok, every 5 minutes) stroll over to the donkeys and shetland ponies for a fuss putting the biggest smile on my face. It's strange the effect that animals can have on you - I can be in the worst mood in the world until I'm in the presence of a cute and furry being and then my troubles melt away with each stroke.

I have to admit though, they aren't always as friendly as they first seem. I soon discovered this when one particular pony decided to buck in the direction of my boyfriend. As much as I like to believe he did it because he wanted affection from me and me only, I finally realised he was just bit mean.

Brand spanking new

So for those of you that haven't read my blog before, hi! And for those of you that have, welcome back to my new and hopefully slightly cooler blog. I felt my previous one was lacking in something so I started again.

You have no idea how long I sat trying to think of a quirky blog name that would make everybody think wow I wish I'd thought of that. Like really....I was sat at my desk for hours. So, doing something I probably should have done from the start, I googled 'how to choose a blog name' and bingo, my predicament was solved. Choose an item of clothing you love and your favourite dessert and put them together. Cue chunky knits and chocolate cake.

This blog will not only be a way of attempting (and most likely failing) to market myself to all of those magazine editors out there just queueing up to hire me (I wish), but also as a way for me to share anything that makes me smile, continuously talk about (this will usually be some form of clothing or sparkly-related item) or just because I need a rant.

So, without further ado, welcome to chunky knits and chocolate cake. Enjoy!
